sound check reality check

Most of my stress lately have been coming from making sure the sound system of the church is running at the optimum level and smoothly. I am grateful for friends like Ming Foo and Danny Kinchang who not just give good service but giving solution while considering the nature of the church ministry. They are wonderful partners in the kingdom of God and certainly I learned a lot from them.

At the same time, i wish that most churches realize the reality of having good sound system. It's not that we can't do anything if we don't have good system but if it becomes a constant problem, then we need to ask ourselves have we been a good stewards of what God has given to us. An easy way today can become a burden in future, so why not invest wisely in something that can last you in a long run and doesn't cost much in maintenance. And oh, a proper setting up work is very important. When dealing with electronics, it's something you don't want to mess around.
 
No matter where you are or at which setting, a good public address system is important. I think there's so much we can learn about it but anyway, time to rest before weekend comes. Peace.

Was honored to be part of an event that is such of a kind -- 12 hours non-stop worship on 17th September.

Different bands coming in hourly to lead worship and my slot was evening. All in all, God's presence was so strong and I had a good time leading there.

I admit towards the event, it wasn't easy for me because all the tours and event logistics but I learnt that when you surrender all to God, He will do great things. Indeed He did!!

Thank you those who were part of the team, those who came, those who prayed for us and with us.

All glory to God!!

never give up

Was sitting with pastor to talk about my work direction...

I must say sometimes i disappointed with what the world or even within church feels about one's future.
I mean why there's rules and regulations to be something or do something?

Never been easy to follow.. i repeat.. NEVER been easy to follow or chasing after God's calling.

But then friends, don't give up, but look up...

I want to say if I die trying or suffer in pursue of God's calling, let me say it's an honour to do so for Him.

Just wanna pray and commit all to Him

Never been easy. It has and always never been easy.

I working hard to pursue what God asking me to do, it's never been easy but I will try to do it with all I can. I will.

Pray for me please.

I have a proud record for the past 4 years of my pre-birthday(or you want to say birthday eve) event, I will dine at McDonalds. So yes, this year.. no different... i decided to have my late night meal at McD.. enjoying chicken foldover (which I was craving for the past few weeks) and the new Sundae flavour (lemon with some nata de coco jelly which btw was nice!)

Actually I was there to meet Jonathan Tse who wanted me to accompany him all the way to Klang to view a studio which was owned apparently by Tony Fernandes. The Tune Studio to be exact.

While waiting for him, in such quietness at McD, i put myself in lonely and deep state to reflect my life for the past 27 years...

Let's be honest. When I was young, this is what I want when I reach 26-27..
1) A nice house
2) A nice car
3) A nice paid job.. making good money
4) Married and have a nice family.

Now I compare that with reality..
1) I have a house.. nice cozy one even though it's rented. Yet I thank God for such nice owners/landlord
2) Have a car.. although it's taking its toll but as long it takes me from point A to point B.. I am grateful..
3) I don't get the best pay in the world but it's passion that drives me on..
4) Not yet married but have a lovely gf

Now, would I say I am not happy.. well.. ok .. I may not reach exactly what I want but look from a different perspective, I am still blessed to able to live the life I wanted. Well, I may not be having all the awesome riches of the world, I believe the simplicity of life and passion got me going on in life.

It's been a tough journey -- all the struggles and all --  but after few years, I do see what God is trying to do. Insert I-see-what-you-did-there meme pic.

Seeing how my ministry grown after few years of striving, seeing how i produced 2 albums, touring around, etc etc... i can say life is one wonderful crazy journey.

There are times I wish I can get what I want. But there's a saying that goes -- what you want may not be necessary what you need.

Lord, I just surrender my life to you again and may You lead me on. Thanks for the past 26 years and now as I touch 27 years of life.. may You guide me and open my hearts to what You have prepared for me. Amen.

Thanks for all your wish.. overwhelming to say the least.. with FB timeline, it's a bit hard for me to keep track with all of them.. seriously, i tried my best...

worship unlimited

The night itself.. all to say.. lived up to the name of the event itself. Worship unlimited.

Indeed God really showed up and people just worship with their hearts. Sometimes I just feel we can just go on and on and on. I didn't have to do much, because it's all about God. =)

Yea, even right now as I typing this, I still can't forget what happened.. unlimited He is.

Anyway, thanks all who came and indeed we have a great time together.

Special thanks to 1am, Kelvin Lim and RELENT for the partnership and looking forward to good times with you guys.

april-ful 2012 :- Easter weekend

Yes, especially dedicate my diary post to just Easter weekend...

What a weekend it was...

APRIL 6th
I went school early because they wanted to take photo shoot for the class. Turnout, somehow, I miss one important part of the announcement -- formal wear! SWT ~~ !!!

Well, thank God for good coursemates.. some of them stayed nearer to college.. so rushed over to their house and get a formal top. Obviously getting a pants won't be practical at this time. Well, everything went well.

Went out to rest before the main event tonight -- Good Friday drama. Was involved in just playing guitar..

Overall, it turned out good. A lot of people turn up for the drama, overflowing of people.. they have sit till outside. Yes, we have to look for a bigger venue for bigger events in future... yup.. I can say Christmas this year wont be at FCC, we planned it to be out somewhere...

Anyway, back to this.. story was touching, but thought it got a bit draggy and resulted we end the night quite late.

APRIL 7th
Felt a bit tired from a long yesterday.

Noon, practice for service next day then leaders' meeting. After that, went to CityHarvest KL, courtesy of Lionel and Elaine Tan, to watch the much-talked Chromeheart drama.

Overall, yes, like anyone else I am impress with their production. Very well done like professional. But my problem is the storyline is not solid enough. You may argue with me that this is "part 2" of their previous Chromeheart movie but even that, there are some parts of the stories didn't establish the character well enough for new people to dwell in them. That's my 2cent opinion if they so happen to read this. Overall again, well done guys.

APRIL 8th

Was a great Easter service. Again, it was packed to the brim.

My old coursemate from UTAR days Shuk Wai came and am glad she did as she wants to get back her Christian walk. Good for her. :D


Night, was at Eaglepoint church to attend 1am ministry's co-ordinator Kelvin's album launch. Was well done and enjoyed the music. Managed to catchup with my RELENT buddies.

Best news before bed :- MU beat QPR 2-0 and then Arsenal beat ManCity 1-0. What news man.. with that, MU go 8 points from ManCity and yes, we are closer to the winning title. Most would want to say it's literally in the bag but I won't want to be that happy yet. It will be ironic for them to confirm their win on Man City's home soil.. hahaha..

That's the awesome Easter for this year....

DEYC2012

Just came back from Sabah DEYC2012 which was held in a simple town called Tawau.

One word : awesome.

Yes, awesome was the word to describe what God is doing in the lives of the young people of Sabah. As someone who is a west Malaysian Anglican, it's an honor for me to be there to witness myself what God is doing in Sabah.

Had a great time leading worship at DEYC2012, even though there were hiccups like guitar didn't work well, projector didn't work well but nothing hinders us from lifting His name high :)

I really thank God for the chance to be there, seeing 545 plus people lifting His name. I pray God will continue to spur everyone to rise up as a generation who will be passionate for His name.

Above all, all glory to Him! :D

Blogging, reporting from Refuge Studio right now...

Arrived KK on a late Sunday evening around 730pm thanks to AirAsia delayed flight for 20mins. Had a nice dinner then check into the studio around 11pm plus. Spend the night listening all my songs on the album -- rough mix. All I gotta say, am excited to share that album soon with everyone.. it sounds different than the previous. Well, you will have your say when you get it but I promise it's rockier and more raw than previous -- think Lifehouse, Switchfoot, Goo goo dolls stuff.

Got to listen Jon's new live album as well..

Today, as in Monday, did 3 songs. All went well especially able to push my vocal in recording one tough song.. aiks!

Rest of the day was basically hanging out in KK...

More to say later! :D

to refuge I'll be..

Glad to share to EVERYONE that I will be heading back to Jonathan Tse's studio to finish up few more songs for 2nd album. YAY!!!

I admit I am nervous a bit, because I hoping the final product will be better than the first album materials, hoping everyone would love it very much. But alas, I am excited to prepare everything for the follow up to the 2nd.

Just some heads-up -- the songs are more rockier and have more 'mature' song than previous. Yes, lots of live drums, electric guitars, etc. Mature in a way that, well, I've written lots of songs after post-THIS ROAD period, which challenges me as a songwriter. Some songs are worship, but most of the songs are suitable to be played anywhere and to any ears. Well, the idea is that the songs speaks to everyone, not just to one particular crowd/people. Yea.. ambitious as I am, I hope the radio plays them :D

Been busy getting things done especially design, art direction and planning for the launch/tours as well..

So ya, it's gonna be crazy 2012.. but anyway, I am excited that I going release the 2nd one and waiting to share this joy with everyone once again.

I will try to update time to time from the studio if possible..
