Movie Review - Sumolah

Nokotta -- never give up as the fight is not yet won.

I recently watch a local film SUMOLAH given to me by my Uni-mate Choon Sern. My full scoop on it..on Multiply.com

For other reviews…New Straits Times' Review on Sumolah and Utusan Malaysia's Review on Sumolah

In terms of local film and heart warming tale, it is good.

Most of the cast did well in their role. The one that stood out for me was Gurmit Singh..well..of coz is nice to see him in a different role rather than his usual PCK gimmick.

But what irritates me is the amount of product placement done in the movie. Celcom and Ogawa keep popping up. I m suppose to watch a movie, not some 2 hour commercial. That’s the problem when you have companies financing your movie budget.

Credit to Choon Sern for providing the information on the movie. And ya, I adjusted some paragraphs from his blog/review btw.

And I heard Afdlin Shauki will be shooting a new movie..well..this time is a take on the Bigfoot tale..

Movies like this often remind me that there are talents and brains in local entertainment scene. Is whether we support them or not. Hope to see more Malaysian movies that are really Malaysians..I mean I love to see more multi-racial and multi-cultural films like this.
