At first, I was really skeptical about watching such show.You know..first impression that is some kiddo show. After one episode..I was hooked.
Yea, is Power Rangers in Jap. Heck, actually Power Rangers originated from them.
Ya how I was fooled when I was a small boy watching the first Power Rangers episode…tot what heroes are they…turn out they are adopted from Japs.
Heck…my childhood fave Flashman and Maskman (which was then dubbed in BM conversation) are actually part of the Sentai family.

My friend gave me to the last three kinds of Sentai..MagiRanger, Boukenger, Gekiranger..straches the past 3 years of Sentai..starting 2005 till now.
I argee with my friend that after watching Sentai, you would think the Westernize version or Power Rangers is crap.
Out of the three I find Boukenger and MagiRanger darn interesting. The latest, Geki, was ok for me.

Boukenger(aired in 2006) is basically basef on the theme of adventurers. Ya the guys are treasure hunters. They carry the message of LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE.
America currently showing Power Rangers:Operation Overdrive which adopted from Boukenger. I actually watch first two episode of Overdrive and I feel is way so different level than Sentai. I dun think the current Power Rangers can ever reach that level Sentai have set. Over hyped. And I understand why people think Power Rangers are so kid-stuff..coz they toned down alot.
Magiranger(aired in 2005) I felt was one of the best Sentai series in recent history. MagiRanger is more family oriented although the series centred on magic-world. It seems the reason why the producers have choose magic theme is capitalize on the hype of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. But what is really set this apart is how much they emphasize of the family values and courage.
It is also the first Sentai series to feature all its members are family members. Ya, imagine daddy mummy kids and an "in-law" are Rangers. Imagine what a family outing they have. What a happy family. Haha.
Gekiranger(the current "active" Sentai) is just ok for me. It centres on a theme of martial arts with animal instinct. With such storyline I wonder how the Western gonna adopt it.
And I didnt like the idea that the Red Ranger of Geki is a naive, immature, whinning guy..like a small boy. The Red Ranger suppose to be the leader and suppose to be tough..like Boukenger's Red Ranger. Alamak. But I guess the producers have their ideas about it.

Like I said earlier…is hard to imagine how the Westerners can match the standard that the orginal was set.
Yea..try imagining watching Naruto..then is being dubbed then the storyline was altered and all the elements of a Jap show (comedy,blah,blah) tuned down. Maybe add their own story and try to please the censors and "parenting viewing control".
Is like any typical Jap show…or anime shows, where you have all sorts of genre mixed in there..such as comedy,romance, etc etc.
In terms of education value, I thought the Jap Sentai did really well to establish messages across its viewers. Compare to their Western counterpart where all you get is boom boom bang bang.

First of all, as a mass comm. student I feel that it is really Asian culture to keep doing something that they started years ago. Is like a tradition to them. Sometimes I wonder how long they can go on. Like Sentai series, it started like 30 years ago. Think of other Asian cartoon series that lasted this long. Ultraman, Masked Rider, Doraemon, plus few more. I be honest to say that I gave up following those mention long long time ago.
And again, it proves that Westerners always look to the east for inspiration. K..they adopt Sentai into Power Rangers. Look at Hollywood movies…The Ring being adopted and few more horror film have and gonna be adopted. HK gangster flick, Infernal Affairs have been adopted.

I respect him le..I got dun have the time in the world to post reviews like him..crap crap crap so long..heck..he even so semangat post videos of them. So I think I will leave you to the expert himself..and amuse yourself with Sentai facts.
Thanks to that friend..I m hooked on Asian shows. And I begin to understand why people are so crazy about anime, manga or any Asians shows.
That’s series that help me entertained thru tis sem. Now I m craving for LOST and HEROES episodes la. Both of them..I watch the seasons half way only.Aihz. I haven’t contact my usual supplier for those shows because of industrial training. Once the new sem starts, I gonna bug him for those.
