shine on..

if there is something that i learn over the past few months is to be the light of the world..

seriously..it's been funny how this message keep repeating in my head. Let me testify some incidents about..

I remember halfway thru the short semester..around November..I got this Bible verse from Matthew 5:14 that goes.."you are like the light for the whole world.." and it really inspired me and my worship..

Then I remember i wrote a blog post about me watching I Am Legend(which stars Will Smith) and I like one part of the movie that says.."light the darkness.." .Funny, I felt that movie plays around that theme.

It's funny that recently those HM leaders came to me and shared with me how they were inspired to be a shining light for their generation. Thus, that inspired their theme this year which entitled, "empowering a shining generation."

After that nite on 29th Dec..when i lookback at the pictures, I felt the same message as well..

Especially when i look at the candles. Prior to the meeting, I was asking myself why do they want the candles for? I was looking a reason for it. Well, there's a reason for everything rite. Even i asked the person who first came out with the idea of lighting candles, the person just thought it would be cool. Full stop.

It's funny how God works at times. HMers just went ahead with that idea. Before that, the hall's main lighting didnt work so i and Soon Yew have to crack our heads on how to make sure the hall's lighthing doesnt look so dull and ordinary. In the end, during worship session and thruout the event, the hall was litten by two handy spotlights and a role of candles, not forgetting a christmas tree..and sometimes the chandlier light above the stage. The setting..turnout beautiful..

When i lookback at the whole setting thru the pictures, i felt it really was a message that we are called to be the light in times of darkness.

Today, I remember i had this sermon in a CD by Pastor Phil Dooley of Hillsong which basically plays on the same theme.."generation of light". Listening to it really brought more light and sense all the messages that i been getting...

ok..after all the talking..here's the conclusion and the lesson i learn..

why some use candle lights because it symbolized hope. Being light in the time of darkness is like bringing hope when things seems to be hopeless.

One thing i learn after listening to Phil's sermon was all of us are called to be that light. That hope for the world when everything seems to go wrong. No doubt that is why we are called to be a shining generation.

When the light comes, darkness has to flee. Simple concept. You can try that at home..a dark room simply be litten up once you switch on the light in your room.

I duno how much clearer i can make. I just hope those testimonies and simple words can encourage everyone, no matter who you are, no matter what you are doing, to be the light for the world. Even in simple deeds, you can shine and make a difference in somebody's life.

So..shine on..
