Being someone else...

Ever wonder what it feels like to be someone else? Ever wanted to be living in someone’s shoes?

On Tuesday, my class watched this movie. Being John Malkovich. Few years ago, I heard of this film, and heard lotsa good reviews on it from TV and articles which made me feel like wanna watch it and see for myself. After many years, I was glad when my lecturer showed me this film..waiting so long to watch it..

The film was nominated for 3 Oscars i think in 1999. So that speaks of the movie credibitily.

The story is about a puppeteer Craig Schwartz (played by John Cusack) who gets a job as a file clerk on the `7 1/2' floor of an office building. Yupzz..a bizarre floor number where it ultimately take him, and a few others as well, into a realm beyond the known. One day he discovers a small doorway hidden behind a filing cabinet. Being curious, he ventures into it and is suddenly sucked into the mind of actor John Malkovich. After fifteen minutes of seeing through Malkovich's eyes, and experiencing what the actor is experiencing, Craig is just as suddenly and inexplicably dropped into a ditch beside the New Jersey Turnpike. Unable to contain himself, he confides what has happened to him to his colleauge Maxine (Catherine Keener). Immediately, she sees money in the prospect of having a portal into the mind of John Malkovich, and she convinces Craig that they should start a business where for two hundred dollars, people experience John Malkovich.

The movie directed by Spike Jonze and stars John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, Catherine Keener and John Malkovich himself. The scriptwriter for this movie must be a brilliant guy to write so many twisted plots.

I enjoyed the movie so much. The movie started abit slow but as it progress, the fun unfolds. Yes, there were lotsa funny moments..nuance and subtle humor.
It's a memorable performance by the cast. Malkovich himself..well..i enjoyed his performance here..Cameron D was good as well..it’s nice to see her in a different role than your usual American sweetheart girl.

I love the concept of the story and the moral as well.

Sometimes we wish we want to live other people’s life. We want to be someone else. We want to be someone that is not us. But at the end of the day, it is being ourselves that matters. No point living a lie. I guess is all about living your life not someone's else. Finding your identity in the world even though things are not easy.

The movie deserves a thumbs-up. It was a cool movie for me.
