a country song, there are four versions of the Paul Overstreet and Don
Schlitz-written song “When You Say Nothing At All” that were hits. The
first to record it was Keith Whitley in 1988.
The songwriters came up with the lyrics after they were trying to write a song, but couldn’t come up with anything.
Overstreet said “as we tried find another way to say nothing, we came up with a song”
This
song became well-known to many, thanks to Ronan Keating who sang this
song for Notting Hill movie, and it’s the song which catapulted his solo
career.
