who wants to be a superhero?

Each year, we are flooded with superhero theme in the cinema..

I m a big fan of these genre..since young. I remember when i was young, i have this wild ambition or dream to draw superhero comics. Ya, when i was a small boy, i use to have this scrapbook where i will draw cartoons or superheroes. O my childhood days!

Seriously if one day you want to sit down with me and have coffee then talk about superhero comics, i can go on talking...perhaps give you facts and story that you wont get on the movie screen.

But in terms of comics, i m more westernized than the Asian side(eg. manga). Yes, in short, I can talk to you about Marvel and DC comics mainly the whole day if you want. But Manga and anything else, I stare at you blankly. But if you ask my preference, I love Marvel comics. Most of my favourite comic characters are Marvel characters.

But think about it, what makes us attracted to superheroes? Is it their superpowers? the ability to fly? the ability of superstrength? the ability to read people's mind?

I guess most of the time, it's their weakness. their human side. their human emotion.

Think about it, i guess this is how we can relate to them better. I remember reading an article about Stan Lee,the mastermind behind all the Marvel characters(spiderman, x-men, hulk), after brainstorming his comic character, he always brainstorm the background of his characters which hopely can relate to the audience.

Give you afew example. Spiderman aka Peter Parker is actually just a typical geek at school..have to juggle between homework and 'superhero' duty, relationship with Mary Jane, being raised by his uncle and aunty. Then you have the X-Men who were a bunch of society outcast because of their gifts, people dont like them because they are different. So you can say being a so-call superhero is not easy.I remember watching Spiderman 2 in the cinema and i got emo after that because somehow i can relate to his problems.

Think about it, i feel everyone can be superheroes in our own way. The sweeper on the roadside is also a superhero for keeping the city clean. The policemen patrol the city, sacrificing their time with family and friends to make sure the whole city is safe. Parents sacrificing alot to meet the family's need.

Even some of us, are called to be different. I duno man, perhaps you are called to be the best doctor in your town, to be a teacher in your hometown, to be the best cook in town, to be a great musician, to be a missionary for God. I believe each are blessed with different talents and gifts. Is how we are going to use it.

I know a man who is the best superhero of all, and has make a real difference in the world, in people's life, in my life, Jesus. =)
