critics' fave of all time..?

Yea.. in previous entry..i mention that i wanted to blog one classic movie that i watched in my class..

That movie is called..

It was billed by many critics over the years as one of the greatest movie ever made in Hollywood...

So yea, it's cool that a mass comm student like me finally get to watch something that has be billed and talk about by critics over the years..

The movie was made in 1941 and directed by the well-known director, the late Orson Welles.

The story is about a rich tycoon Charles Foster Kane who lived a rich and luxurious life. When the publishing tycoon died, news reporters scramble to discover the meaning of his final utterance.

The final utterance even today still become a topic of discussion to many film viewers and critics. The word? "Rosebud". Till today many stil wondering what is that "Rosebud"..

In a final scene on the film, a reporter gave his insight..

"No, I don't think so..no. Mr. Kane was a man who got everything he wanted and then lost it. Maybe Rosebud was something he couldn't get, or something he lost. Anyway, it wouldn't have explained anything... I don't think any word can explain a man's life. No, I guess Rosebud is just a... piece in a jigsaw puzzle... a missing piece"

However, many still debate what does "Rosebud" means.. could be someone he love or something he love..a person or an item..

In film point of view..i guess those who really appeciate movies as a whole would find this interesting. To me, for a 40s-era film, the way the movie was done was incredibly superb. The way the shots were taken, the camera angles, transtition. How the shots were plan was just amazing, judging by that film is made in the 40s. Even each scenes has a meaning behind it. My lecturer pointed out one scene where to potrait the strain relationship between Kane and his second wife, there was a long shot that shows the distance between the two person. interesting.

One coursemate asked me if i learn any moral values from the film. I would say, no matter how rich you become, there bound to be something missing from your life. Kane had everything..a big house, money, a company, wife, but in the end, money cant buy you real happiness.

If any of you get the chance to watch it, enjoy how this classic movie was done. Some shots would captured your mind. For me, it's a good classic example of great classic day movie.
