Is my first blogspot entry from my own hometown. A land they call Ipoh.
After the industrial training, I thought unwinding myself in Ipoh would be good. I hope.
Is a summary about my sem..Year 3 Sem 1..
This sem was industrial training..and I was sent to this place…
BERNAMA. Yea..actually it is an establish news network place. Called it CNN of Malaysia. I m surpised some of friends do not know what it is.
They do news on ASTRO. ASTRO PRIMA is on channel 8 at 7.30pm. Malay news goes on air in ASTRO RIA at 8.30pm. Tamil news is on the ASTRO VAANANIL at 8pm. Mandarin is at 10.30pm at ASTRO AEC.
Now it seems they hav radio news channel which newly launched. Is still early stages so only Klang Valley has it. It is called Radio 24.
If you read newspaper, sometimes Bernama is mentioned coz Bernama sometimes supply the infos and news to them.
I be honest to say that I didn’t apply for this place at the first place. I wanted TV3 as it is near my Sam Sook/3rd uncle’s house. It seems TV3 taking years to ponder whether I accepted to be their trainee. With 2 weeks away from the start of training date, my lecturer told me to go BERNAMA. So there I went.
Their office is near the heart of KL..few kilometers away from KLCC and near the Eye on Malaysia..opposite the Insitute Jantung Negara..next to the National Library.
And traveling there sometimes is taxing.
In a way, thank God for a thing called LRT. I think LRT is the best thing Malaysia have.
I started off as a broadcast journalist. First few days I went to office with a mind that said, ”man, I not suppose to do this la..” . I realize it was not my cup of tea although you get to travel around, become busy-body and getting free makans / souvenirs / goodies (for events) or free entry to sports event like hockey, football, etc matches.
But somehow I find that job taxing. Dun ask me why.
My first month there was testing for me. I be honest that at one point, I nearly wanted to giveup. I duno why. Dun ask.
But I work hard. I do my job and hope things will be good for me.
Till July, I was sent to PRIMA. I suppose to stay for a week. But I fell in love with the job at the PRIMA office and the PRIMA office also fell in love with me. So I stayed there till the end of the training.
Then I was wondering..why I wasn’t aware of such department..if not I should have applied here earlier instead.
Too bad I have 2 more sem to go coz the PRIMA office offered me to work for them after the training duration. But still I was wondering after I finish my studies, will they wait?
To be honest, I felt honored of the offer coz when I first enter the office, I be honest to say I had this attitude of “let’s-get-thru-this-training-so-I-can-move-on”.
Maybe it is just a simple way for God to say He appreciate all the perseverance I poured in and all the hardwork I put in. Well, at least I gain an extra option now. I know I did a good job there.
Anyway I appreciate the PRIMA crew a lot of making the rest of training better. They are a big bunch of nice guys. They apperiate everything i done. Thanks alot. Thanks for the advise. Thanks for everything.
Too bad I cant get the whole big crew in the pic.Only manage to get those who were working tat last day of mine.
Alright..here are some pics from the training..

Well, this is one of the first few pic I took over there. And during that time, I was still the broadcast journalist, i think it was just my fourth or fifth week of the training. I was just around the corner and then i was drag into taking pics. haha.
Here is the entrance of my department.
Well, basically tis is how my working table looks like.if I m not in the studio. So you all know where I have been MSN-ing.haha.
Overview of my office.Actually the place where I stand to take tis pic is just halfway of the hall.So imagine how big is my office.
And BERNAMA has 15 floors..each hav different department.
And this is my "working" table during recording. If I m on duty to be production assistant.
This is the recent news recording..well on my last day of my training. On your left is Elaine who reads only on weekends. On the right is Sue, who literally can be seen everyday. She is friendly person too.
OK..this pic is to prove my office is near KLCC. Is a decent shot, considering i try my best to capture it from where i stand.haha.and it has a TERIMA KASIH board there.haha.
The training overall made me appreciate the whole process of news reporting a lot. From the journalist job till the news production/recording process.
Well, there are lotsa hard work going on behind the scenes to make the half an hour news slot work.
I saw reality of the world. The ugly side the good side.
I met a lot of ppl from ministers to officals to celebrities to big bosses.
I argee with Flora(Des’ fiancĂ© ) that I learn a lot here..
I argee with some BERNAMA workers that the company actually give trainees the chance to experience the real work nature. Yea, like handling equipments and doing assignments and doing office work. In short, we are treated like any other workers that walk in and out of the office. Perhaps they believe in giving chances and let us learn if we ever made a mistake. For that, I appreciate the chance.
Thanks Bernama.
I admit the training was tough, testing and tiring for me. But it was a good experience for me.
I can imagine how my life is after training, turning on ASTRO PRIMA, seeing the familiar faces of the newscasters that I see day in day out reading the news, knowing everything my former colleagues have done prior to the recording and well, basically know how everything behind-the-scenes happened.
