eve of NYE

With the many thoughts running through my mind while looking at all the year-end notes that I posted over the years (thanks to FB), part of me still pondering what to say.

Partly because of my mind is a bit cloudy, thanks to sick bug I got over the weekend. It was a weird situation.. honestly I caught it before the Saturday service, so basically I was preaching through the day with a sick bug and survived. Promptly after the service, my body said I gotta go home and my fever temperature actually shot up quite high. I nearly wanted to arrange for replacement for Sunday worship leading but after a good rest and medication, I woke up feeling better and managed to survive the Sunday service.. then after the service, I lost my voice. So now I am talking like a monotonous man.. and not quite sure how I am gonna sound for prayer meeting tonight.. hahaha

Okay, enough of that weekend drama.

Today, I was hearing testimonies about how the youths' life in FAA have been impacted over the years and I give glory to God for that. Well, that is among the many bright spots of 2019 despite the emotional roller-coaster that I've been going through. Definitely there are a lot of unseen tears, frustrations, tiredness and anger through out 2019, but for all that, I think there's plenty of wonderful testimonies to give thanks for.

Of course, graduating from SPTC, going to UK (especially to Old Trafford) and releasing two new singles were definitely the standout memories for me in 2019.

But it's always the small (or should I say, the unseen) successes that means a lot because it pushes you to look forward to live each day.

Let me say this.. never compare your successes to anyone, appreciate the victories that you have, doesn't matter if it is big or small. In fact, the moment you opened your eyes to a new day and breathing air, is a victory.

Like I said over the weekend.. it's always His grace that brings us to where we are today, and it will be His grace that brings us onwards.

Looking forward to 2020. I honestly can't believe that I've live this long to see this number.

God is good.

And thank you to everyone for making 2019 awesome.

Cheers.

thanksgiving countdown pt 1 : this decade

At the start of the decade, I was into my first year promoting my 1st album. Towards the end of this decade, I have already did 2 albums, an EP and few singles. Besides that, I’ve travelled a lot of places and been on different platform to share my life through music.⁣ I am just in awe when I think how life turned out.

I can go on and on again about my struggles over the years but I am thankful that I am still doing music and writing songs. I am a firm believer that “the best is yet to come..” so there’s a lot to look forward to.⁣

Indeed, what a journey it has been for #timlimproject

Going into the next decade, my prayers would be that I will continue to write songs to inspire people and bring some light into the world that is full of darkness, just like the stars in the skies.⁣

Cheers to everyone for your unending support over the years. Please continue to spread these positive vibes out there.⁣

In terms of personally, there are lot of ups and regrets throughout this decade in terms of personal life, ministry and music too. There are days I wish I can relive some things or re-do some things. But I guess it's part of life that molds you into better person.

Thank you for being in my life and I am sorry for all the mistakes that I have done. May life continue to be kind to all of us.

Much love

UK trip

It's been one week plus since I came back from that 3 weeks break at UK.

It took me a week to get over the jet-lag. It's not fun when you have to work on that day, especially the anxiety of wanting to get enough rest builds.

I just wanna share some observation I made..

1) People here love their pet dogs! I seen a lot of them walking their dogs everywhere and what amazes me is some of them are so huge!

2) The old folks are quite well taken care of, because at some places, I seen them traveling in motor seats (like Professor X-kinda thing).

3) Edinburgh is so beautiful especially the city and the hills. No wonder Hollywood comes here to shoot.

4) Old Trafford
So, I have finally ticked off an item on my bucket list - to be at Old Trafford and watch a match.

Any football fan would love to make a pilgrimage journey to their beloved football team.

I was there (with my wife) to watch MU take on Rochdale in the League Cup tie. The match ended 1-1 and MU progress via penalty kicks.

After reading and watching the football atmosphere since the moment I love football, to be here to experience it in person definitely change my life perspective. Football is really a community thing here for the British and I am really amazed to see the support from the crowd (despite all the sticks that OGS have been getting for their indifference form).

Definitely the highlight of my UK trip.

If you don't believe me, go that scene at Youtube.
5) I enjoyed Liverpool (city only, i must emphasize!) .. the cathedral there is life-changing experience. Newcastle was wonderful too although it's a small town.

6) I understand why the hype about London. So much happening there.

7) Lots of Asians though everywhere I go. Mostly Koreans or China tourist.

8) the London train lines... just wow. You gotta understand how the system works. Once you get the idea, all is well

9) I have met some helpful Brits which makes it homely although some have thick accent which made it hard for me to catch it immediately.

10) I saw homeless people in some cities I've been. My heart breaks a bit when I think how these people have to cope with the cold and rainy weather. But in some places, I saw people care for them by offering food while there were one or two unpleasant experience where they just unashamedly ask for help.

You can view some of those experiences at FB and I am still adding/sharing those pictures whenever I can.

Honestly I miss a lot of things about UK even though the windy condition can be challenging. Also, holiday is a luxury sometimes, when you consider the energy and money spent.

That's some of the thoughts I would wanna share. Definitely I have a lot more to say if you ask me in person!

back from UK

It’s always been my bucket list to visit UK, because I’ve been talking about it since I was a kid. You can tell that I am so happy to finally do so.⁣

A lot of wonderful experience and memories such as watching Manchester United in person and sight-seeing the best places of UK while enjoying British food.⁣

Time flies when you are having fun. Although the traveling have been tiring, but I managed to get some space and time to reflect about life. In an ideal world, I probably wished things would have been different for me in a lot of areas but sometimes life has other ideas. I am learning to accept that some things in life works out differently for different people.⁣

I can only hope and pray that I can face the journey ahead with courage.⁣

Thank you all for being patient with my Instagram stories spam. I still have a lot of pictures to share so some will probably be shared here on Instagram, with some reflections while some will be on Facebook via photo album like how everyone else is doing.⁣

Thank you for your kind words to me and my wife while we on holidays. Thank you FCC-ians for “holding the fort” while I am away.⁣

Cheers ⁣and see you around.

FCC turns 25

Here’s a quick story how I endup at this church called 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 :-⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I was introduced to it by @itsjonathantse when he came to Ipoh for a youth event. Upon arriving to KL for University studies, I started to attend FCC since 2005. After finishing my studies in 2008, I responded to work full time, so I have been working there since then. Of course if you minus off 2 years which I was in Kota Kinabalu in between, all in all, I spend about 12 years in FCC. Yea, nearly half of that 25 eh?
⁣⁣
There are plenty of stories to share within those 12 years so you can say FCC have been pretty much a part of my adulthood life. I am not sure how to begin to share about the ups and downs that I’ve been through. There are days I wondered how come I ended up here. Till today, I always ask myself that question. Maybe He has His reasons. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I just want to say thank you to everyone at FCC (past & present) for accepting this Ipoh Mali fella as part of your family and history. What’s ahead is all up to God and I can only trust that He has His best for all of us - both individually and FCC in general.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Happy anniversary @ilovefcc !!⁣⁣

Here’s to another 25 years and beyond. Cheers. ⁣⁣

FCC worship team

In conjunction with #fccturns25, I wanna take this opportunity to honour the ministry/people that is close to my heart - FCC worship team.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
We have come a long way. I think I shared this before to some; I remember I once shared with the team that God will use us mightily (in terms of music, songwriting, conference) so all we need to do is trust Him. Some thought I am crazy to say so, judging by how small we were that time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
But sometimes, it takes craziness to run a ministry and over the years, God just bless this ministry beyond our imagination, with many people who have different talents, gifts and backgrounds. At the same time, He opened doors for us to minister in various platforms, which laid the foundation for @igniteconferencefcc ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Whether you have moved on (for various reasons) or still in the ministry, I wanna salute all of your hardwork in this ministry. Each one of you are the best people that any pastor/leader could ask for. For that, I am totally humbled by your heart and I learnt so much in this journey. ⁣

I wanna honour all the predecessors too for laying the foundation for us as a ministry. Thank you so much.⁣

I believe there’s more for all of us as we trust in Him. All glory to Him.⁣⁣⁣

day 250 of 2019

It’s a rollercoaster Saturday. I don’t know where to start honestly.

There are a few things that have been annoying me, in fact annoying is an understatement. I don’t how to utter it because we live in a fallen world where people are just full of themselves.

That aside, I just want to say I am proud of the worship team. The rehearsals today is so effective and co-operative. That sets the right tone for the worship which was incredible. I am really proud of you all from bottom of my heart. Keep this momentum going and be a team that honours Him with all that we have.

Then within a space of an hour, I rejoiced with a family for receiving their buddle of joy and then mourned with those who know Aunty Joyce Shak. She is someone who genuinely care for young people (like me and many others before and after me) and she always encouraged me in my ministry both in FCC and my time in ASC. Sometimes I wish there are more older people like her. It’s always a blessing to chat or even hangout with her. In fact, she truly reflects what FCC ministry is all about.
She once encouraged me to compose BM songs and shamefully I haven’t done anything on it yet. I will work hard for it then. While in the mourning, I am thankful for her life and we will see each other someday.

Back to weekend service, good vibes all around and glad to see a lot of familar faces. Good vibes as well at the gig that I was in, nice to catchup with some people too.

While walking around KL, I quite taken aback by the amount of homeless people that I saw. Lots of thoughts ran around my head, especially seeing this side of our city. I guess there’s so much to do as a nation.

I went home with so much questions about life especially when you consider the wave of emotions i went through. To be honest, i find it hard to make sense of it all when there is so much to rejoice while there is so much frusratation going on.

I don’t have answers to everything so may God help us all. Happy long weekend and thank you for reading this piece of my mind.

Day 221 of 2019

"It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.”  ― Maurice Switzer, Mrs. Goose, Her Book

For past few months or even years, I've kept my silent on a lot of things around me, be it ministry or things in general. While sometimes it takes its toil on me and people may question such wisdom, silence doesn't mean I don't care or ignorant.

My wife once told me to speak up against matters mentioned above and tbh, it's easy to say and done. In fact, I occasionally do and I can pull out many cases that falls into that category but here's the thing : no one wants to listen because they already have a set thoughts about it or think that they are always right.

So why waste energy and saliva on people who refused to change? That's why sometimes I don't want to say too much and sometimes it's wise to do so. No point wasting time to win an argument when it just sap away your energy

Ecclesiastes 3:7 A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak

superhero syndrome

Recently when I was unwinding after work at home, I heard a loud scream outside of my house. Considering I was half-naked that time, I quickly put on some clothes and rush out.. apparently, someone in the neighborhood got mugged. Man, right in front of my house!

Even though the neighbours were out, there's nothing much we can do and the victim said ok, she will go home (which is nearby) and settle it.

The whole incident have troubled me a bit. I kept replaying in my mind about scenarios like "what if I really rush down half naked?" "will I get hurt or shot or beaten up for being hero?" etc etc. I realized that this whole "superhero syndrome" perhaps is true. You just wish you are like Captain America, Batman or Flash to stop incidences like this but reality you are not.

Reality dictates that you can't save everything. Didn't we get that theme from superheroes movie/tv series before? Whether we are limited powers or unlimited powers, we are always feel that we are not enough or limited by something.

I remember recently I was so angry at some shops for couldn't come on time to fix my metal gate. I really let loose on that boss on the phone. Then I repented, after thinking back of my action.

I begin to realize there's so much we all can do whether we are doctors, pastors, teachers, mechanics, chefs, ministers. We cannot fix everything but we sometimes try to prove ourselves and others that we can. Maybe our own expectations, maybe others' expectations have burden us. Sometimes I always feel inadequate thinking that I need fulfill or fix every problems in the church and ministry, then I realized it's a foolish thing to do. God didn't call me to fix the world, because it's too much for one person. I just need to rest in what He has done.

The thought that we need to fix everything always a burdening thought for everyone.

Cliche as it seems, I can only rest on the thought that God have done it all for my life, even though I am imperfect. Jesus gave me salvation, grace, love and hope.

Meanwhile, may peace and hope surround us all. Also, be vigilant in everything we do.

Day 217 of 2019

in all honesty, sometimes I have to pause awhile to answer questions on how old I am. Life happens, all ups and downs, so I live each day as it comes.

but it's nice reminder to count your blessings while you number your days.
