MGD Tim's thoughts -- Street Fighter

When I first saw the trailer, my millennial heart went pumping with excitement. It looks ridiculous but looks so fun, till I told myself (and my wife) that we gotta watch this movie in cinema.

It is what it is. To borrow that sentence from my friend Darren (in his own MGD review) – You don’t order a Happy Meal and expect a five course dinner.

The cast seems had fun making this movie, and it shows. Ryu and Ken’s dynamics is explored well, Chun-Li is a show stealer. I actually love how Dhalsim and Honda looks like, wished they have more scenes.. same applies to Guile. All in all, love how the characters looked as though they jumped straight from the game.

So yea, just enjoy the movie as it is. I did very much and it makes me wanna go play the game. Sure, it has some editing and pacing flaws but it’s truly a fun movie for the fans, especially if you are familiar with usual SF tropes.

8/10 for what it is.

p.s. “what’s going on” song by4 Non blondes seems to be the fav of 2 movies that with the 90s settings – He-Man and now this movie.... hahaha
