MGD Tim's thoughts -- Lanterns

I personally was looking forward to this. Green Lantern is among my favourite DC characters and every media materials (whether movie and cartoon series) have been about galaxy adventures.

Turned out it’s the most grounded GL story in their media history so far. Sure, we do see a bit of Lantern powers and flying, a bit of outer space, but that’s the most we can get, instead of a full-on galaxy adventures.

While I enjoyed the detective vibes (hey, DC stands for Detective comics, so no complains), I think it suffers from fans’ overhyping expectations. A lot of theories during the season were brushed asides once finale came. Well played on mystery but there’s a sense of dissatisfaction because feeling that you deserve more.

However, the series has some best episodes written in recent DCU or even comicbook tv history. I don’t mind season 2 if ever but till then, I guess we see John again in next Superman movie?

All in all, a series that truly surprises you, ironically like how you explore the stars....

MGD Tim's thoughts -- Coyote v. Acme

I personally love the idea of animation colliding with real actors, ‘cause it’s always fun. “Who frame the Roger Rabbit?” is iconic for it.

Meanwhile, I honestly felt upset that the movie didn’t get a release date last year. Thankfully, some folks able to fight for it to be out and we didn’t have to wait so long for it.

While it still carries the Looney Tunes humour & fun, there’s the serious plot about corporate greed that brings some balance or reality to the movie. All this gives some life to the story, instead just mindless laughs.

The enjoyable part of the movie is the interaction between the animation and real world, making all seamless. Separately, animation is spot on, while the actors able to interact well with the animation. I can imagine the work put it to make the interaction looks genuine

Wish there’s more movie styles like this.
